There is a lot of contradicting information about using e-cigarettes, often known as vaping, which can be confusing for people who are considering quitting smoking. To provide you with an informed perspective on what vaping is all about and whether it is actually a safe option to stop smoking, we made the decision to consult with some doctors and other specialists.

For starters, what exactly is vaping?

Vaping is a common term that describes using e-cigarettes. A liquid solution, often contains nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerin, flavourings, and other compounds, is heated in electronic cigarettes so that it can be breathed as a vapour. Electronic cigarettes are battery-operated devices. There are numerous names for e-cigarettes, including e-cigs, vapes, vape pens, mods, and tank systems. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes; some mimic conventional cigarettes, cigars, or pipes; others have high-tech designs or the appearance of pens or flash drives. E-cigs come in both disposable and refillable varieties. Most devices retain the liquid, commonly referred to as e-liquid or e-juice, in a cartridge or reservoir.

You must be aware that some electronic cigarettes that advertise being nicotine-free really contain nicotine.

Are e-cigarettes safe?

Nicotine-containing e-cigarettes are not safe for teenagers, young adults, or expectant mothers. Vaping can irritate the tongue or throat and induce nausea and coughing, even after only a brief period of use. The evidence that is currently available indicates that e-cigarettes are potentially harmful to your health because of the toxic combination of chemicals they expose you to, even though there is still much that is unknown about them, including the chemicals that make up the vapour and how they affect your health over time.

Can e-cigarettes help me quit smoking?

The FDA has not endorsed e-cigarettes as a method of quitting smoking. There is very weak evidence that e-cigarettes are useful at aiding smokers in their efforts to stop, according to studies examining the topic. These studies have produced conflicting findings. In fact, it is now generally known that teenagers who vape are more likely to grow up to consume cigarettes.

Furthermore, a recent study by the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC) discovered that people who use e-cigarettes in an effort to stop smoking do not succeed in doing so and instead continue to use both regular and e-cigarettes, a practise known as dual-use. Dual-use is a bad habit because smoking cigarettes in any amount is extremely harmful.

There are tried-and-true, secure, and efficient ways to stop smoking. Making a stop plan that works for you is the first step in beginning your quit journey.
